Is two days enough for Northern Ireland? For the north of it, yes. A two day tour Northern Ireland visitors take from Belfast starts with Belfast and its history on day one, then gives the Causeway Coast a full day of its own on day two, with an overnight in between rather than a long drive back. That is what separates a Northern Ireland 2 day itinerary that works from one spent mostly on the road. The day by day outline is set out below.

This is a typical itinerary for the Titanic Belfast and City Tour, which can be fully customised to suit your preferences.

Start Time: 9:00 am (flexible depending on your schedule)
Duration: Approximately 6 hours
Tour Breakdown: 4 hours of Belfast sightseeing and 2 hours at Titanic Belfast

Belfast Castle: Enjoy panoramic views over the city from Belfast Castle, set on the slopes of Cave Hill Country Park, with time for photos and refreshments.

Crumlin Road Jail: Explore Belfast’s criminal justice history at the iconic Crumlin Road Gaol, which operated from 1846 for more than 150 years. (Jail tour not included.)

Shankill Road and Murals: Travel through Shankill Road, a predominantly loyalist area known for its historic murals and political history.

Peace Wall: See the famous Peace Wall, first built in 1969 during the Troubles and now a lasting symbol of Belfast’s path toward peace.

Bombay Street: Learn the story of Bombay Street, where families were displaced during the sectarian violence of 1969.

Clonard Monastery: Visit Clonard Monastery, home to the Redemptorist order and an important part of Belfast’s religious and cultural heritage.

Bobby Sands Mural: View the mural dedicated to Bobby Sands, commemorating the 1981 hunger striker and a pivotal moment in Northern Ireland’s history.

Falls Road International Wall Murals: Explore the powerful murals along Falls Road International Wall, reflecting Belfast’s political, social, and cultural identity.

St Anne’s Cathedral and Cathedral Quarter: Visit St Anne’s Cathedral and explore the surrounding Cathedral Quarter, now one of Belfast’s most vibrant cultural areas.

Titanic Museum and Titanic Quarter: Visit Titanic Belfast, located beside the original slipways where the RMS Titanic was designed, built, and launched in 1912.

The self-guided Titanic Experience spans 10 interactive galleries, bringing to life the story of the ship, the people who built her, and Belfast’s shipbuilding heritage.

To secure your visit to Titanic Belfast, tickets should be pre-booked in advance. Please let us know if you plan to visit so we can advise an approximate arrival time.

SS Nomadic: Discover SS Nomadic, the tender ship that carried first- and second-class passengers to the Titanic in Cherbourg.

Antrim Coast Road: We head north along the Antrim Coast Road, one of the great coastal drives of Europe. Carved into the cliffside in 1842, it follows the Atlantic between the sea and the dramatic Antrim plateau.

Carnlough Village: Our first stop is the charming harbour village of Carnlough, nestled at the foot of Glencloy. It still retains its quiet, original character and its picturesque harbour makes it a lovely place to stretch your legs.

Causeway Coastline Views: We continue along the Causeway Coastal Route, widely regarded as one of the world’s great road journeys. Sheer basalt cliffs, ruined clifftop castles, and open Atlantic views make this one of the finest stretches of coastline in Europe.

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge: Suspended 30 metres above the sea, the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge connects the mainland to a small rocky island that salmon fishermen have crossed for more than 270 years. There is a one mile walk from the car park to the bridge on unpaved paths, worth knowing if you have mobility issues, small children or a stroller. If you wish to cross the bridge, you will need to pre-book your ticket. Please let us know before you purchase your tickets and we will provide an approximate time of arrival. If you do not wish to cross, we can stop at the viewing point for photos.

White Park Bay: White Park Bay is one of the finest beaches in Ireland, a wide crescent of white sand flanked by chalk cliffs, with the open Atlantic in front and Scotland visible on a clear day just 20 miles across the water. We stop at the viewpoint above the beach for photographs.

Giant’s Causeway: Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Giant’s Causeway is one of the natural wonders of the world. Around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, formed by volcanic activity 60 million years ago, step from the clifftop into the sea. It is about a one mile walk down from the Visitor Centre to the stones, and a shuttle bus runs the same route for £1 per person each way. You will only need to pre-book a ticket if you wish to go through the Visitor Centre, otherwise your guide will show you the free entrance.

Lunch Stop: Bushmills Village offers several choices, from a local fish and chip shop and sandwich shops to cafés and restaurants where you can sit down for lunch. For a restaurant meal, we recommend the Bushmills Inn, which must be booked in advance. Please note that lunch is not included.

Old Bushmills Distillery: Bushmills has been producing Irish whiskey since 1608, making it the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. If you wish to take a tour of the distillery you will need to pre-book your ticket. Please let us know before you purchase your tickets and we will provide an approximate time of arrival. If you would rather not take the tour, we will still stop so you can visit the tasting room.

Dunluce Castle: Perched on a basalt outcrop above the Atlantic, Dunluce Castle is one of the most dramatic medieval ruins in the world, dating back to the 13th century. This is a photo stop. The clifftop views over the ocean are simply extraordinary.

The Dark Hedges: We end the day at the Dark Hedges, a tunnel of ancient beech trees planted in the 18th century and one of Northern Ireland’s most photographed natural wonders. They became world-famous after appearing as the King’s Road in Season 2 of Game of Thrones.
