Game of Thrones Tour Belfast Itinerary

This is a typical itinerary It can be modified to suit your individual needs and desires

Leave the Belfast approx. 8:00 am Time changes with every customer

Antrim Coast Road: Your Tour will begin from your pickup location, where you will meet your driver and guide for the day. There we will begin our journey to the north coast travelling through the rolling farmland of County Antrim. The Antrim Coast Road is widely agreed to be one of the finest stretches of road anywhere in the world. The road hugs the coastline giving incredible seaside views, passing unspoiled beaches, and sheltering under rugged cliffs. You may even see Scotland on a good day!

Carnlough Harbour: Our first stop of the day takes us into the picturesque fishing village of Carnlough for a quick comfort break. Series six of Game of Thrones saw Carnlough harbour feature for the first time. This harbour although built in the nineteenth century during the famine years still retains an old-world charm, which meant that it didn’t seem out of place when it first appeared in Game of Thrones.

Cushendun Cave – Storms End: This is a stunning coastal location with incredibly rugged yet beautiful geological features! What happened in these Cushendun caves took many GOT fans by surprise. These beautiful sea caves helped to create the ominous setting of one of the TV show’s most mystical and frightening scenes. Here, with Davos Seaworth watching in horror, Melisandre gives birth to the shadow baby that eventually kills Renly Baratheon.

Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge: Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge is situated near the charming village of ballintoy. They will be an opportunity to take a photo from the viewing point of the Rope Bridge which was at one time used by salmon fishers. (We highly recommend pre-booking tickets if you wish to cross the bridge If you do not wish to cross the bridge, we can stop at the viewing point for photos)

Larrybane Quarry: The next stop on the Game of Thrones Full-Day Tour is Larrybane. This disused chalk quarry made the perfect location to hold Renly Baratheon’s tourney. Here is where we meet Brienne of Tarth for the first time, as she defeats Loras Tyrell. Larrybane is also the access point to the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Suspended over the roaring sea, crossing this bridge is not for the faint of heart. If you do make the journey, just try not to end up like Balon Greyjoy.

Ballintoy Harbour – Lordsport: Ballintoy Harbour is the location for Theon Greyjoy’s return to the Iron Islands. This small coastal village is one of the most pretty and picturesque towns in Ireland. Ballintoy means “raised beach” and it was used for the exterior Pyke shots in the Game of Thrones™ TV series.

In the presence of Balon and Yara Greyjoy and the other Ironborn, the baptism of Theon was used to reaffirm his allegiance to the God of the Sea. Ballintoy was the setting for this scene. Sadly, for Balon, this is also the set of his sea burial.

White Park Bay: A Beautiful scenic beach at the very tip of Ireland and the closest country from here would be Iceland which is 800 miles away.

Lunch Stop: We can stop for lunch in a nice Irish pub to sample our good food and maybe a cheeky pint of Guinness. Or if you want to keep it simple then a nice portion of fish and chips and not forget mushy peas, from one of the local chip shops.

Our Next stop Giants Causeway, Commonly called ‘the 8th wonder of the world’, is the only world heritage site in Ireland. During our stop here you can spend time climbing over the ancient stones, snapping photos, and reflecting on the myths and legends of this very unique area.

Entrance to the visitor’s centre is not included in the price of both our basic package and premium tours if you want to access the café, shop, and visitor centre you can purchase your ticket at the Giants Causeway and your ticked allowing you to experience visitor centre the history of the area including an audio guide to enhance your experience.

Dunluce Castle – House of Greyjoy: We continue a wonderful day with a photo stop at Dunluce Castle. We arrive at one of the most dramatic castle ruins in the world. Prepare to be amazed at the way this old castle hangs over the edge of the cliffs. Home to the McDonnell Clan for many years and considered the most romantic castle in Ireland. En route we pass through Bushmills, famed for the fantastic whiskey, which is enjoyed all over the world.

The Dark Hedges: One of the most popular natural phenomena in Northern Ireland, the Dark Hedges were used as a set for the hit TV series Game of Thrones. It was the famous King’s Road in Season 2. The hedges were planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century.

It was intended to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to their home, Gracehill House. Two centuries later, the trees remain a magnificent sight and have become known as the Dark Hedges.
