Belfast City Sightseeing & the Titanic Experience
Pickup Time: 09:00
Duration: Approximately 6 hours
St George’s Market: One of Belfast’s oldest and most beloved attractions, this award-winning Victorian covered market dates back to the 1890s. It is a vibrant mix of local food, fresh produce, crafts, and live music — a wonderful taste of Belfast life. (Open Friday to Sunday.)
Divis Tower: A striking high-rise at the lower end of the Falls Road, built in the 1960s as part of the Divis Flats complex. During the Troubles, the British Army occupied its top floors as an observation post, making it one of the most significant landmarks of the period.
Falls Road International Wall Murals: Belfast’s famous murals have become symbols of Northern Ireland, depicting the region’s past and present political and cultural story.
Bobby Sands Mural: Marking the 1981 Irish hunger strike, which began when Sands refused food on 1 March 1981.
Clonard Monastery: A Catholic church and monastery off the Falls Road, home to a community of the Redemptorist order.
Bombay Street: A poignant reminder of 1969, when around 1,500 families were left homeless after their homes were burned.
Peace Wall: First built in 1969 following the outbreak of the Troubles, these walls were meant to be temporary, yet over the years they have become longer, taller, and more permanent.
Shankill Road and Murals: One of the main roads through west Belfast, running through the working-class, predominantly loyalist area known as the Shankill.
Crumlin Road Jail: First opened in 1846, this imposing landmark of Belfast’s criminal justice system was a fully operational prison for 150 years. (Jail tour not included.)
Belfast Castle: Set on the slopes of Cavehill Country Park, 400 feet above sea level, the castle offers beautiful views over the city. There is time for a short break here, perhaps with a cup of tea and freshly baked scones.
St Anne’s Cathedral and Cathedral Quarter: Belfast Cathedral has stood for over 100 years, its foundation stone laid in 1899. It sits in the lively Cathedral Quarter, now full of restaurants and bars.
Titanic Museum and Titanic Quarter: Titanic Belfast, named the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction in 2016, stands beside the very slipways where Titanic was designed, built, and launched in 1912. The self-guided Titanic Experience runs across nine interactive galleries. (Please pre-book your tickets and let us know, so we can advise an approximate arrival time.)
SS Nomadic: The last remaining White Star Line vessel, famous for ferrying first and second-class passengers out to Titanic at Cherbourg.
Pickup Time: 08:00
Duration: Approximately 8 hours
The Antrim Coast is one of the most breathtaking coastal drives in the world. Hugging the edge of the North Atlantic, the route winds past dramatic cliffs, golden beaches, and the nine Glens of Antrim, where green hills tumble down to quaint harbours and traditional fishing villages. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this stretch of coastline blends raw natural drama with a peaceful, timeless charm — and around every bend lies another postcard view.
Carrickfergus Castle: A Norman castle on the northern shore of Belfast Lough, one of the best-preserved medieval structures in Ireland. (Photo stop.)
Antrim Coast Road: We begin the famous coastal route north through the rolling farmland of County Antrim — widely regarded as one of the finest coastal drives anywhere in the world.
Carnlough Village: A quick comfort break in this picturesque nineteenth-century fishing village, whose charming harbour featured in Game of Thrones.
Glenariff Waterfall: Often called the “Queen of the Glens,” Glenariff Forest Park is home to a series of beautiful waterfalls tumbling through ancient woodland. A short walking trail leads past cascades and fern-lined gorges in one of the most scenic of the nine Glens of Antrim.
Cushendun Caves – Storm’s End: The atmospheric caves where, in Game of Thrones, Melisandre gives birth to the shadow baby.
Lunch Stop – Ballycastle: A relaxed lunch break in the lively seaside town of Ballycastle, with a choice of cafés, restaurants, and pubs serving locally sourced food. (Lunch not included.)
Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge: One of Northern Ireland’s most famous attractions, where you can cross a rope bridge spanning a chasm over 75ft high. (May close in poor weather. There is a 1-mile walk from the car park. To cross, please pre-book your ticket and let us know, so we can advise an approximate arrival time. If you prefer not to cross, we can stop at the viewing point for photos.)
Ballintoy Harbour: The pretty working harbour that doubled as Lordsport on the Iron Islands in Game of Thrones, where Theon Greyjoy returns home.
White Park Bay: Our final stop — a beautifully scenic sweep of beach at the very tip of Ireland, where the nearest country is Iceland, some 800 miles away.
Pickup Time: 09:00 (from Belfast)
Duration: Approximately 8 hours
We set off from Belfast and head north through the beautiful rolling hills and patchwork farmland of County Antrim, where quiet country roads gradually give way to the rugged drama of the Causeway Coast. Today is dedicated to two of Northern Ireland’s greatest treasures — the Giant’s Causeway and the Old Bushmills Distillery — taken at a relaxed pace with time to enjoy the scenery along the way.
The Dark Hedges: One of Northern Ireland’s most photographed natural wonders — an atmospheric avenue of beech trees planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century, made world-famous as the King’s Road in Game of Thrones.
Dunluce Castle: One of the most dramatic castle ruins in the world, clinging to the edge of a sheer cliff above the Atlantic. (Photo stop.)
Giant’s Causeway: Often called the eighth wonder of the world, this is Northern Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend time climbing over the 40,000 interlocking basalt columns and soaking up the myths and legends of Finn McCool.
Lunch Stop: A relaxed lunch break near the Giant’s Causeway, with a choice of local venues. (Lunch not included.)
Old Bushmills Distillery: Our final stop of the day. Bushmills has been crafting its famous “water of life” since 1608, making it the oldest working distillery in Ireland. Visit the tasting room to sample the whiskey at its source.
Overnight Suggestion: Rather than travelling all the way back to Belfast this evening, we suggest staying locally — the Bushmills Inn is a charming option in the heart of the village. An overnight stay here saves you the return journey and leaves you perfectly placed to continue west towards Derry the following morning.
Pickup Time: 09:00 (from your overnight accommodation in the Bushmills area)
Duration: Approximately 6 to 7 hours
This morning, we leave the Causeway Coast behind and follow the scenic coastal route west, all the way from Bushmills to the historic walled city of Derry~Londonderry. It is a day of dramatic clifftop views and rolling countryside, ending in one of Ireland’s most storied cities.
Please note: the scenic drive and the stops along the way are fully guided, while your time in Derry is explored independently, so you can enjoy the city at your own pace. Several attractions also offer their own private guided tours — if you would prefer a more personal experience, you are welcome to book one in advance, and we will advise an approximate arrival time. Pick-up and timings may vary slightly depending on the day.
Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne: Our first stop of the day. This striking clifftop temple sits within the grounds of Downhill Demesne near Castlerock, perched dramatically on a 120ft cliff high above the Atlantic Ocean.
Binevenagh & Gortmore Viewpoint: A dramatic basalt mountain rising above the Causeway Coast, with the Gortmore viewpoint offering spectacular views across Lough Foyle towards Donegal.
We arrive in Derry at approximately 11:45 AM to begin exploring the historic city.
Lunch Stop: A relaxed lunch break in Derry city centre, with a choice of local cafés, restaurants, and traditional pubs. (Lunch not included.)
Bogside & Museum of Free Derry: Set in the historic Bogside district, this powerful museum tells the story of the civil rights era, the Troubles, and the Free Derry movement, through photographs, film, and personal artefacts. This is a self-guided visit, though a private guided tour can be arranged in advance if you would prefer a more personal experience.
Guildhall: A magnificent Grade A-listed building in the heart of the city, known for its beautiful stained-glass windows. Explored at your own pace on a self-guided basis, with private guided tours also available on request.
Derry City Walls – Public Walking Tour (2:00 PM): We finish the day on the historic city walls — the only completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples in Europe. Built between 1613 and 1618, the 1.5km walls form a complete walkway around the old city, with four original gates: Shipquay, Butcher, Bishop’s, and Ferryquay. A knowledgeable local guide brings the city’s history to life as you walk the ramparts.
As the walking tour finishes right in the heart of the walled city, you can simply stroll to your hotel afterwards — we suggest the Bishop’s Gate Hotel, ideally located within the old city walls, just a short walk away. From there, you are free to relax and enjoy the evening in Derry at your leisure.
Pickup Time: 09:00 (from Derry)
Duration: Full Day (approximately 8 hours)
On our final day we leave Derry and cross the border into County Donegal, following the scenic coastal route around the wild Inishowen Peninsula. We head out to the far north first, then loop back through famine history, waterfalls, mountain passes, and ancient forts — a relaxed, scenic finale with some of the most dramatic views on the island.
Tremone Bay Beach: A beautiful, secluded sandy beach on the rugged eastern coast of Inishowen, framed by rocky outcrops and wild Atlantic scenery — a peaceful first taste of Donegal’s coastline.
Malin Head: The most northerly point on the island of Ireland — wild Atlantic views, dramatic cliffs, and a windswept beauty that has drawn visitors and filmmakers alike.
Doagh Famine Village: A fascinating open-air museum on the Isle of Doagh, telling the story of Irish life from the Great Famine of the 1840s right through to the present day.
Glenevin Waterfall: A pretty waterfall tucked into a wooded glen near Clonmany, reached by a gentle walkway along a babbling stream — a tranquil natural stop.
Gap of Mamore: One of Inishowen’s most dramatic drives, this steep mountain pass climbs high between the Urris Hills, rewarding you with breathtaking views over Lough Swilly and the Atlantic far below.
Dunree Head (Fort Dunree): A dramatic coastal headland and historic military fort overlooking Lough Swilly, with a fascinating museum and breathtaking views across the water to the Donegal hills.
Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Point (Lisfannon): A designated viewpoint along the famous Wild Atlantic Way, offering sweeping views across the calm waters of Lough Swilly.
Grianán of Aileach: Our final stop, set high on Greenan Mountain just outside Derry. A magnificent ancient stone ringfort with sweeping panoramic views over Lough Swilly, Lough Foyle, and the surrounding countryside. Dating back over a thousand years, it is one of Ireland’s most impressive surviving ringforts.
At the end of the tour, we will drop you wherever best suits your onward journey — back to Belfast, onward to Dublin, or directly to the airport for your departure. Let us know your plans, and we will tailor the finish of your tour to suit you.
Departure location is flexible, please include your preferred pick-up in your booking.
Free pick-up from any location within Belfast City Centre. Additional charges apply for locations outside Belfast.

Over five days you will see the Giant’s Causeway, the Game of Thrones filming locations, the walled city of Derry, Belfast and Titanic Belfast, plus a scenic fifth day. Your private guide, luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicle and a tailor-made itinerary are all included.
Certainly. Five days is the ideal length for a private Northern Ireland tour. It gives you the Giant’s Causeway, the Game of Thrones filming locations, the walled city of Derry, Belfast and Titanic Belfast, plus a scenic fifth day — all at a relaxed pace, without feeling rushed.
Every tour is completely private and exclusively for your group. We do not run shared or open group tours. The vehicle, the route and your local guide are entirely yours, so the 5-day itinerary can be paced and personalised around your interests.
Your private Northern Ireland tour starts wherever suits you. We offer door-to-door pickup from your Belfast hotel, both Belfast airports and the Belfast Cruise Terminal. Each day begins and ends at your accommodation — no stress, and no parking to worry about.
Yes. A full day is dedicated to the real Game of Thrones filming locations in Northern Ireland — the Dark Hedges, Ballintoy Harbour, the Cushendun Caves, Tollymore Forest and Castle Ward (Winterfell). As a private tour, you can linger longer at your favourites.
The tour price covers your private guide, the luxury vehicle and the full five-day guided itinerary. Accommodation is not included, which keeps things flexible. We are happy to recommend trusted, well-located hotels and B&Bs in Belfast, Derry and along the Causeway Coast.
Our private tours run all year round. April to September is the most popular, with the longest days and the Causeway Coast at its greenest, while spring and early autumn bring fewer crowds at the Giant’s Causeway and the Game of Thrones locations.
Northern Ireland weather changes quickly, so dress in layers and bring a waterproof jacket and comfortable walking shoes. It can be breezy on the coast, even in summer. And bring your camera — the Causeway Coast and the Dark Hedges are wonderfully photogenic.
Our preferred vehicle is a luxurious Mercedes-Benz V-Class, seating up to seven passengers in comfort. For larger groups we use two V-Class vehicles. As every tour is private, the whole vehicle is yours — ideal for families, couples, friends and small groups.
Booking is simple. Once your dates and itinerary are confirmed, we secure your tour with a deposit via our secure online invoice, with the balance settled by invoice before you travel. The itinerary can be fully customised. See our cancellation policy at www.belfasttoursni.com/terms-conditions/.
